Brad, James and the rest of the team at BG Electrical and Air Conditioning are excellent. They’re friendly, responsive and did a great job replacing my air conditioner line/pipes. It was a bit pricey but for the amount of work that went into it and the quality of work it’s been worth it. They even pulled together a report for me at no additional cost when my body corporate tried to say my air conditioner was the cause of ongoing roof/structural issues that I had to pay for/fix (issues that existed long before the team did those works).

Do I need a licensed electrician to install a split system?

Yes. In Queensland, split system air conditioning installation must be carried out by a licensed electrician and a licensed refrigeration mechanic, or a tradesperson who holds both licences. Attempting a DIY installation is illegal and will void your unit’s warranty. As you can probably tell from our name, our team holds both licences.

How long does a split system installation take?

Most single-head installations are completed in three to five hours. Multi-head systems or more complex jobs may take a full day. We’ll give you an accurate timeframe when we quote.

Do I need a new power circuit for a split system?

You might, particularly for larger units. If your switchboard doesn’t have a spare circuit available, we’ll install one as part of the job. This is something we assess during the quoting process so there are no surprises.

Can you install a split system on a double-storey home?

Yes. We install split systems on single and double-storey homes regularly. The outdoor unit location and pipe run length may affect the cost slightly, which we’ll factor into your quote.
